Folk Festival Tour

2016 was really my first major tour as a solo musician. At that stage I had traveled all over the world with Socks in the Frying Pan and I had played with them to literally million of people at countless festivals across the United States. But there was a big difference being alone on stage and singing my own songs. I wasn’t sure how it would all go.

That year I was lucky enough to join The Irish Folk Festival Tour. There were some fantastic artists on the tour that year including Beoga, The Aoife Scott Band and Theresa Horgan & Matt Griffin.

Over the space of 25 days we played 24 venues and traveled through three countries, Germany, Switzerland and Luxembourg. It was a very intense tour but also very rewarding and new for me. The venues were spectacular and the audiences were enthusiastic and kind. It was the 100 year anniversary of the 1916 rising and at the end of each show we would all get up together and sing songs of remembrance.

This was my very first attempt at taking my solo career seriously, putting in the hard graft on the road and seeing if there were people actually up for listening… And after the whose experience I was completely hooked.

Here is some footage for you of the whole gang from the final nights performance in Hamburg to get a feel for the atmosphere.
